Train to Kandy

Lasitha invited us to join him on a trip to Kandy to visit a local secretary for social survices who is blind. Lasintha travelled on into a remote village that has no roads in order to speak with a blind girl and get electricity to her remote home so she could listen to tapes to learn. A very noble cause. We donated some money to this cause but we were unable to travel along due to limited sleeping space.

We spent the day going to some of this sights in Kandy, including the Buddhist Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. We had to walk around bare foot.

In the evening, we went to an arts festival and watched a variety of Sri Lankan dances and rituals. This included people walking on hot coals!
