It was supposed to be a simple 14 hour DIRECT flight from Los Angeles to Sydney for my husband, but when I received a text messages from him at 6am stating he was in Honolulu, we knew it was bad news.
A passenger on the plane was sick and they had to make an emergency landing in Honolulu. They were not allowed to leave the plane and sat on the ground for three hours waiting for a ground crew to get the sick person off the plane.
It should have been a straight shot to Sydney from there, but because the flight crew would have worked too many hours, they had to fly to Nadi (Fiji) to pick up a new crew. But since nothing is simple, they had a three hour layover in Fiji. All of these delays gets Paul into Sydney a shocking 12 hours late.
While most of these things are out of V Australia's control, it doesn't leave a good taste in the mouth of my husband who was giving them a try for the first time.
